On April 11, 1984 a fire at the Washington & Lee University Phi Gamma Delta chapter house claimed the life of chapter president Tom Fellin (Washington & Lee 1986) and destroyed the chapter house. The fire happened over spring break. Tom Fellin was in house as he was a member of the Washington & Lee baseball team.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta shall consider acts of discrimination or harassment by its Chapters, Colonies, Members and/or pledges on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, citizenship, ancestry, age, disabilities or any other characteristic protected by law to be violations of Fraternity Policy.
